Choice Eats 2013: Start Salivating For This Weekend
The Annual Village Voice Choice Eats is coming around again! For those in the know, you probably already have tickets. For those who don’t – beg and borrow from friends to get one, as it sold out as we were going to press. We went last year, and were impressed at the wide variety of places that have made New York such a culinary mecca.
Featuring over 80 stands of the best cuisine in NYC (selected by Voice critics), Choice Eats is a landmark in the NYC foodie’s calendar. While the experience can be frantic- last year we battled hundreds of people in long queues to get to the best eats before they sold out- the rewards are outstanding: an all-you-can-eat selection of the finest samplers across New York. This year, be sure to check out newcomers Peanut Butter & Co., Peppa’s Jerk Chicken and Yemen Café, all of which are fantastic eateries.
Mooncake Foods has won all kinds of Cheap Eats awards, Red Hook Lobster Pound regularly supplies lobster festivals and their food truck dispenses fantastic lobster rolls daily across the city, and The Kati Roll Company merges authentic Indian street food rolls with frenetic New York fast food service. Brisket, pulled pork, meatballs, ramen and every other recent NYC food fav will be on show, as well as delicious vegetarian options. If you’re into sweet things, there are some 20 dessert stands waiting to cater your needs; we’re particularly excited by BITEME Cheesecakes, who really do have some of the most decadent dolce-bites in town.
The Village Voice Choice eats runs on March 19 at the 69th Armory on Lexington Ave. For more information and tickets, visit the Choice Eats site.
