Princeton Tec: Keeping Us Bright
But, what did you say? Your old flashlight is dead or heavy? Well, Princeton Tec has the answer for you, their new Vizz GR 150 lumen headlamp. This headlamp is comfortable, actually stays on your head, and is very easy to use. It has one button that you cycle through: night vision red LEDs to spot (which illuminates up to 295 feet) to flood (which starts low and gets brighter) to lock. The large transparent button is easy to access even in gloves and will also indicate when the batteries are low (at the 20% mark). Speaking of batteries, it takes 3 AAA alkaline or lithium batteries, which will have it aglow for up to 200 hours.
In addition to the Vizz being easy to use, it looks sturdy, is stylish (comes in black, green, or red), and is water proof. It is rated for one meter below the water for 30 minutes. So, while I would not suggest taking it scuba diving, it will handle any rain a camping trip will bring. Flashlights and camping lights range widely in price, but $45 for a quality headlamp is pretty fair. For biking, hiking, or even light exploring in the caves of your backyard, a bit of extra light always helps!
