Choice Streets: Tonight, Join Us And Taste The Best

At press time, it’s still looking a little dicey, thanks to some storm clouds gathering on the horizon. But if the rain holds out, tonight should be a beautiful evening for a visit to the Intrepid at Pier 86, here in Manhattan. After all, what could be a better venue for one of the more exciting foodie events?

It’s the Village Voice Choice Streets Food Truck Tasting, the second edition of this fun, buzz-worthy assembly of some of the best in the city. Unfortunately, tickets sold out quickly, and are no longer available- but if you can find some second-hand, we strongly encourage you to check it out. Also, make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, where we’ll be posting some pictures of the delectable goods we find.

Take a look at some of the local sweet and savory goods on hand, from some of our favorites: Big D’s Grub, Comme Ci Comme Ca, Coolhaus, Desi Food Truck, Gorilla Cheese NYC, Hibachi Heaven, Mac Truck, Mexico Blvd., Miami Food Machine, Mike N’ Willie’s, Nuchas, Phil’s Steaks, Rhong Tiam, Solber Pupusas, Souvlaki GR, The Squeeze, Valducci’s Original Pizza and Wafels & Dinges.

This year’s event will include not only complimentary food tasting and beverages, but a private tour of the Intrepid venue and entertainment throughout the night (DJs Finger on the Pulse). The VIP ticket allows guests to preview the event early at 6:30PM with an exclusive VIP gift bag. Regular tickets allow admission at 7, and the event runs until 10PM this evening. Plus, a portion of ticket sales goes to charity. Join us, and 1000 of your closest friends, to wine and dine on an aircraft carrier!

Formerly the head technology correspondent for the Des Moines Register at age 16, he has since lived and worked in five states and two countries, helping a list of organizations and companies that includes the United States Census Bureau, TripAdvisor, Events Photo Group, Berlitz, and Computer Geeks. He also served as the Content Strategy Manager for HearPlanet, a multi-platform app that has reached over a million users and has been featured in the New York Times, Hemispheres Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Fox Business News, PC Magazine, and even Apple’s own iPhone ads. Greg has written as a restaurant critic and feature journalist for a number of national and international publications, including City Weekend Magazine, Red Egg Magazine, the Newton Daily News, Capital Change Magazine, and an arm of China Daily, Beijing Weekend. In addition, he has served as a consulting editor for the Foreign Language Press of Beijing, as well as a writer and editor for the George Washington University Hatchet, the school newspaper of his alma mater.
